Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Vulcan Radar (“we”) handles information when you use the Vulcan Radar desktop device, our website at vulcan-radar.com, and related cloud services.
What we collect from devices
- Device identifier and authentication token hash
- Selected location (latitude/longitude or resolved postcode centre) and display range
- Firmware version, last-seen time, and connecting IP address
- API usage needed to serve aircraft, maps, and logos
- Whether the device is paired to a customer account (ownership link), without sending your email address to the device
We do not ask for your name on the device. Location is used to select coverage and return nearby aircraft. Aircraft positions themselves come from third-party ADS-B style feeds.
Website & accounts
If you create an account, we process your email address, name, password hash, order history, and related account settings so you can buy products, manage devices, and use collection features. If you email us, we will process the content of your message and reply address to provide support. Payment details for online checkout are handled by our payment providers under their privacy terms.
Aircraft collections & usernames
- Collector username (and a normalised form used for lookups)
- Aircraft you add to your collection (for example ICAO24 Mode-S hex, registration, type, operator, and related metadata)
- Sighting details you record when collecting (such as time, callsign, altitude, distance, and route fields where available)
- Optional photograph metadata/links (for example Planespotters.net thumbnail URLs and photographer credit) shown on collection pages
- Whether your collection is set to private or public
Collections are private by default. If you enable public sharing, your username and shared collection content are visible to anyone with the public link. Do not include sensitive personal information in a username. Device location coordinates and your email address are not shown on public collection pages.
Why we process data
- To operate the live radar service for your device
- To secure the API, prevent abuse, and diagnose outages
- To provide customer support and warranty service
- To meet legal obligations where applicable
- To operate account, device pairing, and aircraft collection features you choose to use
Retention
Operational logs are retained for a limited period (typically around 30–90 days depending on log type). Device registration records are kept while your device remains active on the service and for a reasonable period afterward for security and support. Account, order, pairing, and collection records are kept while your account remains active and for a reasonable period afterward for security, support, and legal obligations.
Sharing
We use infrastructure and data providers (for example hosting, map imagery, aircraft data, and photograph metadata services) solely to run the product. If you enable a public collection, that shared content (including your username) is available to visitors of the public link. We do not sell your personal information.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold. You can make a collection private or change your username from your account. Contact [email protected].
